Professor Robert Slavin has been appointed to an Ofsted Expert Panel that will inform a major report, to be published next year, on access and achievement issues in education.
The review aims to draw attention to the issues facing deprived communities and to provide radical new solutions for narrowing the gap in educational achievement. The panel will meet four times over the next year to consider evidence from a range of sources that will inform their review.
Sir Michael Wilshaw, Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector and chair of the panel, said “The purpose of the panel is to bring some of the finest minds in education together to challenge the established structures. Just because systems worked in the past does not mean that they will work in the future. The panel will use their experiences, expertise and knowledge to help us to develop radical ideas to end the cycle of underachievement in too many parts of the country.”
