TFTI has a developing research focus in the areas of health, accessibility and wellbeing.
This interdisciplinary group of researchers work creatively using both qualitative and quantitative methods.
Projects associated with members include the AHRC-funded project Enhancing Audio Description, the ESRC-funded Closing the Gap Network+, and the Wellcome Trust-funded Centre for Future Health.
Our research spans participatory filmmaking with mental health service users, sound design and spatial audio to create alternatives to audio description, user-defined website accessibility, co-design and co-production of interventions with lived-experience experts, refreshable braille screen development, accessible game engines, and the potential benefits of Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response-inducing media (ASMRim) in wellbeing.
This diverse and emerging research cluster collaborates extensively across academia and with external organisations including Mind, RNIB, Mental Health Foundation, and Converge.
