Fusion - the process that powers the Sun - has the potential to produce clean energy for everyone. At the York Plasma Institute, we're working on understanding how to hold plasma-ionised gas in the extreme temperatures required to achieve fusion without damaging the reactor components.
On this 12-month MSc Fusion Energy course you’ll gain a firm foundation in fusion and plasma science preparing you for employment in the fusion industry or for a PhD in many technical areas including fusion.
In addition to the lecture modules, you will be introduced to the skills in computational and experimental plasma science essential to the growing fusion economy (and highly valued in all high-technology careers).
You’ll complete the course with a major research project based at York Plasma Institute or potentially at an external organisation, such as Culham Campus or Rutherford Appleton Laboratory.
If you’d like to find out more, book a place and join us at one of these events.
