Support for students during assessment
Student responsibilities in assessment policy
This policy details students’ responsibilities when undertaking summative assessments, including examination and non-examination based tasks.
Exceptional circumstances
This policy defines what exceptional circumstances are, how they can affect a student’s ability to complete assessments, how such circumstances can be evidenced and their potential impact be assessed and what adjustments can be made to the assessment so that the student’s learning is assessed fairly.
Reasonable adjustments in assessment
The Reasonable Adjustments in Assessment for Taught Students Policy should be read alongside the overarching Policy on Reasonable Adjustments in Teaching, Learning and Assessment. These policies set out the support for students who may be disabled under the Equality Act (2010), detailing the use of Student Support Plans (SSPs), extra time, marking of language, occasional extensions and urgent or severe case adjustments.
Assessment and student engagement
These documents provide policy and guidance on promoting effective student engagement with learning and assessment activities, particularly through the use of formative work and assessments and how participation in learning may be assessed.
Please note, this policy and guidance has not yet been updated for 2025-26. The policy from 2024-25 is still in place and linked here.
Policy on acceptable assistance in assessment
This policy details the appropriate sources of assistance - human and technological - that a student can access in preparing their assessments and to promote academic integrity.
