There are over 50 digital screens located across campus. These can used to promote events and messages to staff, students and campus visitors.

The digital screens are managed variously by:

  • The Communications team (including the large screen at Greg's Place and most screens in common areas)
  • Certain academic departments (these use the same central system, but with content managed locally by departments)
  • The University of York Students' Union (including screens in or close to University of York Students' Union venues)

Designing content for digital screens

The brand platform contains branded digital screen templates designed to make it easy for you to create your own content. There are different templates for different use cases:

  • Research event - for events that are highlighting or specific to research at York. These could be central or departmental.
  • Academic talks/events - for promoting academic talks or lectures, where you might want to highlight the speaker. 
  • Department or service events - for academic talks/events that are hosted by a department or talks/events hosted by a professional services team/area.
  • Department or service messages - for clear messages to specific student groups - either in departments or from services.

Once you've submitted your digital screen for approval, the Communications Support team will review the design and approve it or email back with suggested amendments.

When your digital screen has been approved, use the digital screen request form below to schedule it. If you don't want to create a screen yourself, you can also use this form to submit information and request that Communications turn it into a screen on your behalf. 

Greg's Place screen

The screen at Greg's Place displays a reduced set of content consisting of key central campaigns that contain relevant information for staff and/or students. Requests for the Greg's Place screen can only be made by colleagues in External Relations.

You can book exclusive use of the large screen at Greg's Place for the duration of a staff or student event.

Student society and student-led content

Generally, central and departmental screens only display University content. University of York Students' Union can support student-led content on the screens that they manage - to request this, contact helpdesk@yorksu.org.
