Communicating with staff

Find out how central messages and university updates are communicated to staff, and how you can promote your own message to colleagues.

Staff communications channels

As a staff member, you'll get updates through various channels at university level and within your department. You can also use these channels to get a University-related message out to the rest of the staff community, in addition to your departmental communication channels.

Staff Digest

The Staff Digest newsletter goes out to all staff every Wednesday afternoon.

It's a curated collection of short items of news covering:

  • Announcements about what's happening around the University and on campus
  • Support for your work, research news, teaching and learning news, and support for staff with student-facing roles
  • Training and development opportunities
  • Events and concerts, offers for staff and community activities

Other newsletters

There is no additional support available for producing internal or external newsletters for departments and sections. However, there are a number of email tools available to you as a staff member for one-way email communication.

Staff homepage

The staff homepage helps you quickly find the tools, services and information you need to do your job. The news and events feeds keep you up to date with upcoming events, significant campaigns and important central updates.

There are also resources to help you connect with the University community and stay informed about what's happening around the institution.

Digital signage

The digital screens displayed around campus are used to promote messages relevant to the whole campus community. Find out more about digital signage.

University Executive Board (UEB) updates

Updates from the Vice-Chancellor and the University Executive Board are sent to staff via email. Occasionally, UEB also hold all-staff webinars on specific topics.
