Peter Lord guest speaker at University of York

Oscar winner Peter Lord, director and producer of animation classics such as Morph, Creature Comforts, Chicken Run and the Wallace and Gromit series, will return to the University of York next week.

The York graduate and Aardman Animation co-founder, will give an illustrated talk about his work, showing clips from his films on Thursday 2 February.

Peter Lord co-founded Aardman Animation in 1972, during his first year as an undergraduate, with long-term collaborator, David Sproxton. As a director, Peter has been nominated for a number of Academy Awards and BAFTAs.

Peter graduated from York with an English degree in 1976 and was awarded an honorary degree by the University in 2003. Dr Judith Buchanan of the Department of English, who gave the presentation speech for his honorary degree, has organised the visit.

Peter has worked with Nina Simone, Peter Gabriel, Mel Gibson, Miranda Richardson and a host of other household names.

The lecture is at 5.30pm, in room A/TB/056-57 in the Seebohm Rowntree Building on the Heslington campus. Entry is free and all are welcome.
