2006 White Rose studentship scheme announced

Posted on 17 January 2006

The University of York is offering four White Rose studentships for PhD projects beginning in October 2006 based in the Departments of Biology, Chemistry, History, and Sociology.

The scheme provides collaborative research projects and interaction with fellow students and researchers at the Universities of Leeds, Sheffield and York. Each studentship project contributes to a network spanning the three universities, enabling students to benefit from and contribute to a larger initiative.

The studentships provide a home/EU tuition fee waiver and an annual student stipend (£12,300 in 006/07).

The network themes are: The Genealogy of Modern Civic Identity: Politics, Culture and Performance (Victorian Studies); Nanoscale Functional Surfaces (Nanoscale Science); The genetics, ecology and evolution of ageing (Systems Biology); and Older people's well-being and social inclusion (Ageing and Society).
