Disabilities campaigner honoured by University of York

Disabilities campaigner Phillippa Russell is to receive an honorary degree from the University of York this month (Friday July 12) for more than 30 years working to improve rights and conditions for disabled children and their families.

Phillippa Russell, Director of the Council for Disabled Children, emphasises the importance of a holistic approach to the needs of children and their families. She has an active voice in many aspects of life affecting disabled children, including social, educational and health policy.

She has been nominated for the honorary degree by the University of York's Social Policy Research Unit, which has a strong focus on the needs of disabled or chronically ill children and their families.
