York Ideas

Featuring talks by global speakers, new learning experiences and activities for the whole family to enjoy, York Ideas is a year-round series of events led by the University of York to educate, entertain and inspire.

Culminating in York Festival of Ideas in June each year, York Ideas offers an incredible range of mostly free events for all interests and ages.  Many of our inspiring events are also recorded and made available on our York Ideas YouTube channel, so you can watch them again at a time that suits you.

Throughout the year, look out for free lectures by expert speakers on a wide variety of topics, aimed at a general audience.
Held in January each year, YorkTalks takes you on a free whistle-stop tour through some of the University’s most inspirational and innovative research.
Suitable for all the family, YorNight promises a journey of discovery into the amazing world of research with free hands-on activities.
York Festival of Ideas offers a huge programme of mostly-free events for all ages and interests for 13 days in June each year.
