York Society of Engineers Lecture

The lecture will start with acknowledging the contribution of Sir George Cayley to the development of modern aviation and in particular gliding. The principles of glider flight will be described including how they fly, how they are controlled and how they use the sun’s energy to stay airborne. The lecture will be illustrated with a series of in-flight video clips.
