Event details

Tracey Bashkoff and Dr Vivien Greene are the senior curators of the recent exhibition Harmony and Dissonance: Orphism in Paris, 1910–1930, presented at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York. Tracey and Vivien will reveal the story of the exhibition’s emergence, which featured over 90 artworks in the museum’s iconic rotunda and examined the vibrant abstract art of Orphism. It explored, in particular, the transnational movement’s developments in Paris, addressing the impact dance, music, and poetry had on the art, among other themes. Orphism provides us with a new insight into a forgotten avant-garde movement.

This event has been generously supported by the CMods Small Grant Scheme of the University of York.
