About the speaker

Kate Britton was appointed as Professor (Personal Chair) in 2021 and has been the Head of Department of Archaeology in the School of Geosciences at the University of Aberdeen since 2020.

Kate is archaeological scientist and human palaeoecologist, specialising in the use of stable isotope analysis for the reconstruction of past diets, movements, and environments. In 2023, Kate’s PALaEoScot project was awarded £1.6 million ERC grant to examine the history of research into Scotland's deeper past and unearth new archaeological evidence for the nature of human activity, society and culture in the Late Pleistocene.
