York Society of Engineers Lecture

You’ve seen the road signs – now find out from Daniel Burrell what Yorkshire GREEN is all about!

Daniel Burrell is Assistant Project Manager for J Murphy & Sons. He is the Murphy lead on Overton 275kV/400kV substation. Since joining the company in 2020 he has worked across various industries and high-profile projects such as HS2 and the TransPennine route upgrade east.

Yorkshire GREEN involves the upgrade and reinforcement of the high-voltage electricity network in Yorkshire to improve the transfer of clean energy across the country.

Yorkshire GREEN will allow cleaner energy to flow into homes and businesses that need it in Yorkshire and beyond. It will provide a new connection and reinforcement on the electricity transmission system, whilst supporting ambitious net zero targets set by the UK Government.

The talk will focus on how multiple stakeholders have worked together to discharge the requirements of the development consent order (DCO) including the agreement of the stages of discharge, the civils construction of the substation in line with the development consent order and approved designs, installation of the electrical equipment as well as Supergrid Transformers (SGT) delivery and testing and commissioning of the electrical equipment.

The York Society of Engineers welcomes applications for membership from those engaged or interested in Engineering. Membership brings several benefits; please visit our website for more details and an application form.
