Updates to Morrell Library lighting
News
Posted on Thursday 27 November 2025
Between December and the end of February 2026 we’ll be making some improvements to our lighting across the Morrell Library as part of the University’s sustainability agenda.
We will be working across all the floors in the Morrell to improve the lighting units in both open access study areas and individual study rooms. Please bear with us whilst we carry out this really important work.
In order to help you plan your own study and use of the space please note these approximate dates of work and the affected areas:
- From Monday 1 December to Sunday 14 December: work will start on the second floor of Morrell. You can still use this space but there will be no bookings available during this time.
- From Monday 15 December: work will commence on the third floor of Morrell. As this is a silent area please note there will be some unavoidable noise and disruption. An alternative silent space can be found in the Burton Library.
- From the start of January: some work will be carried out on the Ground floor in very limited areas. No major disruption is expected.
- From the end of January: work will start to finish off areas on the first floor of Morrell
Timings are subject to change.
There will be very limited disruption to study spaces and access to resources when work is carried out in specific areas. Local signage will indicate where work is taking place.
If you need any assistance accessing a specific area for books or study please come and find us on the Library reception or Helpdesk.
