Key library dates over the Christmas 2025

Here’s an overview of what happens in the library over December and January, and how it affects you. The headlines are: the library is closed on December 25th, 26th and 31st but otherwise open as normal over vacation! More detailed info below, in chronological order.

14th December is the last day before vacation starts

Library opening hours remain 8am - midnight over this period apart from the days listed below. Remember to bring your books back before you go as they may still be recalled over the vacation!

Winter Vacation:

Our Helpdesk will be closed from 4pm Tuesday 23rd December, and the Library will operate as Self Service over the vacation period.

Common Assessment Period:

For the exam period we return to 24 hour opening. From 5th January, we also return to our normal Helpdesk opening hours.

King's Manor Library Study Space opening times:

The King's Manor Campus, and by extension, the Library Study Space will be closed between 6pm Tuesday 23rd September and Monday 5th January.

York Minster Library opening times:

York Minster Library will be closed between 4.30pm Thursday 18th December and 9.30am Monday 5th January.

Book Delivery Service over the winter vacation:

The option to request items to be delivered to the Booklockers at Ron Cooke Hub and King's Manor will be switched off on YorSearch for the winter vacation period at lunchtime on Tuesday 16th December. All items will be removed from both lockers at lunchtime on Friday 19th December.

The option to request items will be switched back on Friday 2nd January and delivery of items will recommence w/c Monday 5th January.
