  • 3 June 2025, 1-2pm, online, Doomscrolling and Mental Health, Anna G Orfanidou of CITY College, University of York Europe Campus examines how to break the cycle of doomscrolling – the compulsive consumption of negative news.

  • 4 June 2025, 2-4pm, in-person only, RCH/248 - Lakehouse, Ron Cooke Hub, Heslington East, Health, Social Care & Wellbeing @ York Showcase Event. This event will give an overview of the health research portfolio at York across all three faculties plus provide opportunities to network and contribute to discussions on how to continue to develop work in this area.
  • 7 June 2025, 2.30-4.30pm, in-person only, Creative Centre, York St John University, 'Stepping Through Interactive' is a participatory film and interactive documentary on mental health which examines the role of community and isolation in recovery, challenging traditional storytelling to create a more inclusive representation of lived experiences. The film will be followed by a creative activity and Q&A.
  • 9 June 2025, 12-1pm, online, Back on Track: Return to work toolkit, Simon Gilbody, founder of the Behavioural Therapeutics Lab at the University of York, and clinical psychologist Dean McMillan discuss a toolkit to help those experiencing long-term sickness absence back into work.
  • 11 June, 1-2.30pm, online, The Liberation of Voice Through Creative Writing, Discover in this interactive workshop how creative writing can foster connection and community, with case studies from people with lived experience of mental ill health.
  • 12 June 2025, 11am-12noon, in-person only, Campus West, University of York, Loneliness at Work, Join journalist Isabel Berwick, who leads the Financial Times' Working It brand, and Simon Gilbody of the University of York, an expert on mental health therapies, as they discuss loneliness at work and offer some practical advice and solutions.
