Great York Walkers raise over £9k

This year's Great York Walk took place on Saturday 17th May

66 enthusiastic walkers drawn from members of staff, alumni, students, local residents and friends of the University came together for this year's Great York Walk.

Together, they raised an impressive £9,083 for Mentally Fit York! This fund, which is jointly stewarded by IMRY and the University's Office of Philanthropic Partnerships and Alumni (OPPA), supports much needed mental health research plus activities to translate existing findings into mental health policy and practice, both locally and further afield.

Everyone had a happy and rewarding time following all or part of the 25 mile route around the city which took in local landmarks including the Minster and the Millenium Bridge. Reflecting on the experience one of the walkers said how taking part had made them feel 'valued and respected', while another described is as 'empowering'.

A huge thank you to all those involved, including walkers and organisers, from IMRY.
