Event details
This free webinar will share key findings from a new policy briefing by the Centre for Mental Health in partnership with CHYMP which was generously funded through TYPE which provides ongoing sponsorship and support to CHYMP. The briefing is based on research undertaken at the University of York between 2018 and 2024 and explores how adapted, sensory-informed and strengths-based approaches can improve mental health and wellbeing outcomes for neurodivergent children and young people.
The webinar will consist of several short presentations by researchers from the Centre for Mental Health plus the University of York, followed by an audience Q&A/discussion and will explore:
- Why many traditional mental health interventions do not meet the needs of neurodivergent children and young people
- The evidence for strengths-based, sensory-informed and play-based approaches
- How services can make reasonable adjustments to improve access, engagement and outcomes
- The implications for schools, mental health services, policymakers and wider support systems
