Born in Bradford: Place, inequalities and children and young people’s mental health

This free webinar marks the launch of a policy briefing by the Centre for Mental Health in partnership with CHYMP and generously funded through Research England Policy Support Funds via TYPE. It examines how place and location shape children and young people's mental health and how they can contribute to inequalities across this population. The briefing is based on research undertaken at the University of York between 2018 and 2024, including findings from the Born in Bradford study.
Drawing on the briefing, the webinar will reflect on how local environments, communities and services influence wellbeing, and explore how councils might develop more effective approaches to reducing inequalities and improving mental health across their local areas.
The webinar is hosted by the 'Mentally Healthier Councils Network' (which brings together people working in local government from across the UK to champion mental health in their communities) and will include several short presentations by researchers from the Centre for Mental Health and from the University of York followed by an audience Q&A/discussion.
