The Hampson Scholarship

An annual stipend of £3,000 to a student who has applied to study on one of the Department of History’s MA programmes.

The Hampson Scholarship was set up in memory of Professor Norman Hampson (1922 to 2011), a historian of the French Revolution and Professor in the Department of History from 1974 to 1989. The Scholarship was established as a result of generous donations from Professor Hampson’s daughters, Françoise and Michele. Priority is given to students working in the area of French and/or Enlightenment History but if a suitable candidate cannot be found within this area, then the criteria will be widened to include European history.
