E-cigarettes will lead to a healthier but more unequal society

E-cigarettes and other smokeless products are more frequently used by richer, younger and more educated people in England, a study co-authored by York health economics professor Andrew Jones has found. An implication is that the population is likely to be healthier in the long run. However, at the same time, socioeconomic health inequalities are likely to grow. The study, using data from the 2013 Health Survey England, has just been published in Economics Letters
