Event details

This is the inaugural meeting of a new virtual interdisciplinary centre across the University concerned with all aspects of death, dying and the dead - from the social sciences to the humanities and arts. Our first lunch-time meeting, hosted by the Humanities Research Centre's The Proposition series, invites interested researchers to meet for an hour and discuss key issues driving current research and policy in the area of commemoration.

It will be chaired by Dr Jonathan Finch (Archaeology), who will discuss understanding changing audiences for commemoration. Dr Julie Rugg (Centre for Housing Policy) will explore who, if anyone, has the right to a monument in the light of modern benefit payments and Gareth Beale (Centre for Digital Heritage) will discuss the application of digital recording techniques and public engagement with commemoration.
