Event details

This talk will forcus on the curation and launch of a tactile, auditory installation which uses new technology to mediate the mythological world of the Iron Age (represented on a silver cauldron from Gundestrup in Jutland, Denmark). The aim here was to create an experience, for both the seeing and the visually impaired, which sets aside one’s intellectual approach, opens one’s mind and makes you want to explore the world of the cauldron.

In 2013 a testlab-exhibition in 1.0 version was created in cooperation with The Institute for the Blind and Partially Sighted. Users reflected upon the experience - blindfolded entering an enlarged representation of the cauldron, only guided by a voice and soundscapes and "seeing" with their fingers. The experience was well received, and gave valuable insight into how much preparation you need in order to engage in a completely new way of perceiving the past. Version 2.0 is now part of the exhibitions at Moesgaard Museum in Denmark.
