Constantine College Aims

null

In the four years since we opened, Constantine has become a supportive, ambitious and inclusive community. We offer our students a wide range of opportunities to develop skills and try new things, and encourage everyone to challenge themselves and explore who they want to be. What will you try first?

  • Volunteering with Refugee Action York
  • Charity fundraising (RAG)
  • Enterprise and business skills workshops
  • College mentoring
  • "Food for Thought" cookery and budgeting workshops
  • Yoga
  • Making the Most of the Outdoors - Gardening, nature walks/talks, habitat creation, photography etc
  • Games nights
  • College internships

As a relatively new community, we are especially keen to hear about your ideas and help you make them a reality. We work closely with our College Student Association, YUSU and the GSA, and Careers to ensure that all of our students are able to access a wide range of opportunities.

Our work is underpinned by the five Strategic Aims, which are common to all of York's colleges and here's our College Service standards.

Our Strategic Aims

Stimulating academic attainment

Facilitating social opportunities and creating a culture to enhance students' academic curiosity and motivation to learn.

Creating cohesive communities

Using social events, sport and welfare intervention to develop an environment which enables students from diverse identities and backgrounds to learn to live both independently and in a supportive and inclusive community.

Developing skills and employability

Encouraging and supporting a programme of, largely, student-led activities, in conjunction with other departments in the University, which will help students to increase their skills and prospects and develop leadership qualities.

Promoting diversity, ethics and intercultural and environmental sensitivity

Providing opportunities for students to challenge themselves and each other, to discover new cultures and experiences, and to promote the University’s ethical vision.

Encouraging well-being

Providing sporting, social and welfare activities and interventions that encourage healthy living and reduce mental strain, enabling students to develop self-reliance and resilience and, in conjunction with other sections of the University, supporting students in distress.
