Schools invited to pilot brand new primary science activities

CIEC has developed four new primary science activities in partnership with the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI), based on their popular storybooks Ellie the Climate Champion and Ellie learns about vaccination.
Each story is now accompanied by:
- One practical science investigation
- One careers-focused activity designed specifically for use in primary classrooms
These engaging, science-based activities are suitable for Key Stage 2 and are designed to spark curiosity and encourage hands-on learning, with a particular focus on:
- Lower Key Stage 2: Climate education – introducing pupils to global warming and exploring ‘climate champion’ careers.
- Upper Key Stage 2: Micro-organisms and health – developing children’s understanding of germs, and how vaccines are developed and transported safely.
Participating schools have received a free pilot copy of the classroom activities to use with their classes in exchange for completing a short feedback survey. The team at CIEC is delighted to be working with schools nationwide to ensure these resources are practical, engaging and impactful for primary science learning.
Coming Soon – starting April 2026
The ABPI is keen to expand its current suite of resources for primary-aged children, including its range of Ellie storybooks exploring the pharmaceutical industry and wider areas of science. These storybooks are available in hard copy, as downloadable PDFs, and as audio-visual books that children can listen to online while the pages turn automatically on screen.
CIEC is pleased to announce a further collaboration with the ABPI to develop a new Ellie-focused storybook and accompanying classroom resources to add to the existing series.
This exciting addition will include three new science activities, and one careers-focused activity, further enhancing the ABPI Ellie series and supporting delivery of the national curriculum for science in primary schools.
