About the speakers
Professor Claire Rothery and Raju Reddy FRCA MBA
Professor Claire Rothery
Claire is a Professor of Health Economics and Co-Lead of the York Technology Assessment Reviews (TAR) programme, which delivers rigorous, independent assessments of new pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and diagnostics for the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). Her research specialises in health technology assessment (HTA) methods and decision-analytic modelling, with a particular focus on uncertainty analysis and Value of Information (VOI) for reimbursement and research prioritisation decisions. Claire contributed directly to the 2022 NICE methods and processes review and co-chaired the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) Task Force on Emerging Good Practices for VOI Analysis.
Raju Reddy FRCA MBA
Raju has been Chair of NICE Technology Appraisal Committee A since May 2026, having previously served as Vice/Interim Chair of Technology Appraisal Committee D for over two years. He has been a consultant paediatric anaesthetist at Birmingham Children’s Hospital since 2008, specialising in paediatric cardiac anaesthesia.
From 2015 to 2022, he was the secondary care consultant adviser to the Board at Berkshire West CCG and served for 6yrs as a clinical member of the NHS England Individual Funding Request Panel until 2024. Raju holds an MBA from Warwick Business School and has a strong interest in NHS finance, including costing, HRG coding, and cost-saving initiatives. He has also worked as Clinical Lead for the UK Department of Health’s Cost Recovery Support Team, a CQC Specialist Adviser, and a visiting attending paediatric anesthesiologist at Mott Children’s Hospital, University of Michigan (2007–08).
