The Urgent Action Sister Funds, Centre for Applied Human Rights, and UNESCO HRD Hub have just launched new research examining funding models in an era of permacrisis.

Drawing on the first in-depth academic study of Feminist Funds’ resourcing practices, the research highlights a critical disconnect: while grassroots feminist movements are already delivering trusted, locally grounded and intersectional responses to crisis, the funding models intended to support them remain limited, short-term, and fragmented. This stands in stark contrast to the strategic, long-term investment being directed towards anti-rights movements, placing movements working for equity and justice at a considerable disadvantage.

The research examines the alternative, and hopeful, resourcing practices being offered by Feminist Funds, proposing a new resourcing model that shifts power from donor-led systems to movement-led resourcing.
