United Nations Special Rapporteur on Situation of Human Rights Defenders visits the UK

The United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of Human Rights Defenders, Mary Lawlor, visited Scotland on Monday 3 and Tuesday 4 October.
Staff and defenders from CAHR were invited to join a round table discussion hosted by the Scottish Human Rights Forum and Amnesty International, to answer the following questions:
- What are the greatest challenges facing Human Rights Defenders today?
- How should we be seeking to support and protect human rights defenders internationally and domestically?
Human rights defenders from around the world, including alumni from the CAHR Protective Fellowship Scheme, shared their experiences, raising cases and discussing the main challenges for the defence of human rights today and the protection of those defending them.
