Human rights and environmental lawyer Mónica López Baltodano and film-maker Khristine Gillard, will discuss the civic struggle against the construction of the Grand Interoceanic Canal in Nicaragua, and the social movements that united to resist authoritarianism. There will be a chance to see clips from Khristine’s film "Les Minuscules" which features the voices of women from the peasant, student, and environmental movements.

We hope to hold the event in-person and also to make it accessible online. Please Register your interest and select either a General Admission or Online ticket.

Mónica López

Mónica López Baltodano is a Nicaraguan human rights and environmental lawyer and the director of the human rights NGO Popol Na. She has been involved in human rights and environmental rights struggles in Nicaragua for over a decade, particularly focusing on the impact of megaprojects.
