Event details

This EDI Forum marks LGBT+ History Month 2026, offering a space to reflect on identity, inclusion, and lived experience in professional settings. Recent national developments have placed LGBT+, especially transgender rights at the centre of public debate, making this conversation both timely and essential.

The session brings together academic, international, and lived-experience perspectives to explore how LGBT+ people can confidently express their identities at work while navigating shifting social and legal landscapes.

The forum will explore:

  • How LGBT+ individuals negotiate identity and visibility at work
  • The impact of recent UK legal and cultural shifts on LGBT+ employees
  • Intersectional and international experiences of inclusion
  • Creating workplaces where all staff can thrive authentically

The EDI Forum aims to foster open dialogue, increase understanding of diverse LGBT+ experiences, and strengthen our collective commitment to an inclusive, respectful working and learning environment.

The panel’s presentation will be followed by Q&As and further discussion around a cup of tea.

Please kindly note that we will be taking some photos at the event, for marketing purposes. Please let Fabien Baugard know should you not wish to be included, either via email or at the event itself. Further information about the University’s processes for capturing photography and video.
