Event details

The School’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Committee are pleased to invite you to our next EDI Forum. In this SBS EDI Forum, we will focus on accessibility and inclusive learning. This EDI Forum provides an opportunity to reflect on how inclusive practices can better support diverse student experiences, particularly in engaging with feedback and navigating university provision.

The event provides a safe space for discussions and reflections on accessibility and inclusive learning with staff and students. It will place particular emphasis on practical approaches, including BSL and Deaf inclusion, captioning, and support for Deaf and hard of hearing students, alongside broader considerations of digital accessibility through a WCAG-aligned lens. We warmly welcome contributions from our SBS students and colleagues to generate discussion, with time for Q&A.

The session will also include a soft launch of the School’s NEW feedback literacy podcast, produced by a member of the Faculty DACS team, featuring insights from student support perspectives, aimed at empowering students to engage more confidently and proactively with feedback processes and available support services.

Presenters

  • Greg Avetisyan, MA Social and Public Policy, who will share practical insights on accessibility, including BSL provision, Deaf inclusion, and digital accessibility approaches.
  • Paulina Melichova
  • Nick Glover

We will be taking some photos at the event, for marketing purposes. Please let Greg know should you not wish to be included, either via email or at the event itself. Further information about the University’s processes for capturing photography and video can be found here.
