About the speaker

Avinash Shenoy is a Reader in the Dept of Infectious Disease at Imperial College London. His group works on innate immunity and bacterial pathogenesis.

Avinash graduated in Microbiology & Biotechnology from Ramnarain Ruia College, Mumbai, and obtained an integrated MS-PhD from the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, before going on to do a post-doc at Yale University Medical School. His laboratory is based at the MRC Centre for Molecular Bacteriology & Infection (MRC CMBI) at the South Kensington campus, Imperial College London. His group study the role of inflammasome signalling in host immunity to infection. Avinash's research is mainly focused on pathogens such as Salmonella, enteropathogenic E. coliMycobacterium, and others.
