Theatre, film, television and interactive media at York offers a creative community of industry professionals, world-leading researchers and talented students.

The creative industries are a major UK success story. Together film, television, theatre, games and extended reality (XR) media are worth billions to the national economy. Cultural output plays a fundamental role in how we define ourselves and how we relate to the world.

The former Department of Theatre, Film, Television and Interactive Media was founded to break down barriers between theory and practice as well as between art and science. Now part of the School of Creative Arts and Technologies, we're continuing this mission and exploring new areas of activity which can help shape the creative economy of the future.
