Dushyant Naresh

Research Associate, Leverhulme Centre for Anthropocene Biodiversity

Biography

I am an archaeologist with a passion for telling stories in heritage and science through experimental digital mediums, methods, and technologies. I hold a BA in anthropology and Political Science from Vassar College in the US, and an MSc in Digital Archaeology from the University of York. Prior to academia, I worked in British factual TV and as a multimedia journalist in the US, where I covered climate change, social justice, and environmental activism. At LCAB, I’m excited to work with people from various disciplines who can bring unique perspectives to understanding biodiversity and the broader Anthropocene.

Research

I conduct research into the relationship between people and their environments, both past and present, and develop immersive experiences to help contextualise, explain, and explore human history. Particularly, I look at combining novel storytelling approaches with immersive media tools to help communicate complex data in heritage and environmental contexts. My research at LCAB will build on the work I’ve done in the past to design and produce immersive digital experiences to disentangle and explore ecology, biodiversity, and the Anthropocene.
