Last week, the University of York celebrated its annual Green Impact Awards, bringing together staff, students and sustainability teams from across the University.
The event welcomed 80 guests to recognise the outstanding efforts being made to create a more sustainable campus community.
A highlight of the event was a visit from Vice-Chancellor, Charlie Jeffery, who presented awards and spoke about his support for the enthusiasm, commitment and passion shown by participants. He also highlighted how Green Impact contributes to the University's wider sustainability ambitions.
Representing SOS UK, Lauren Walia reflected on the programme's achievements at both a national and local level. This year marks a significant milestone for Green Impact as it celebrates its 20th anniversary nationally and 15 years at York.
The awards
In total, 20 Green Impact teams were recognised during the ceremony. 14 teams completed the Green Impact Toolkit, while a further 11 teams successfully delivered sustainability projects. Two teams achieved Diamond Awards for the first time, and two more received Diamond status for the second time after achieving Platinum awards for five consecutive years.
The ceremony also celebrated the contributions of individuals and teams through five Special Awards, nominated by their peers in recognition of their exceptional commitment and impact.
A huge congratulations to all of our Green Impact teams and individuals for your continued dedication to making the University a more sustainable place to work, study and enjoy.
