Conservation game playtest with Mazaza Games
Sustainability Clinic, Market Square, Campus West
Event details
In the game, you will play as a family of beavers newly released into the Cairngorms landscape. You will act as ecosystem engineers building dams to raise water tables, create wetland habitats, and unlock a cascade of returning species — from water voles and otters to ospreys and pine Martens (all ecologically accurate and based on the latest scientific research).
This topic directly addresses the climate emergency, since beaver-led rewilding is one of nature's most powerful tools for carbon sequestration, flood mitigation, water quality improvement, and biodiversity recovery. By making this science accessible and entertaining through the power of play, we can reach audiences not yet engaged with climate action and introduce the topic of beavers to new audiences. Help us use the power of play to trigger real world impact and turn play into purpose!
