The Universities of York and Hull have been appointed as key regional players in the new 'NHS University', which is designed to transform learning in health and social care for the 1.6 million staff in the health service.
They become one of 11 regional partners who will develop new courses, support for learners, teaching methods, practice and delivery, including e-learning, work-based learning, knowledge creation and research.
York and Hull Universities have been appointed joint regional partners in a move which reflects the success of the newly-established Hull York Medical School.
More than 80 higher education institutions bid to become partners.
