York named 'University of the Year'

The Sunday Times has named York 'University of the Year' in its Good Universities Guide.

The newspaper highlights York's success in teaching and research assessments, its good access, and its "sustained excellence" over a period of years.

York is in 6th place in the Sunday Times league table of over 100 universities and higher education colleges. The University has appeared in the top ten of every league table for the last few years.

Professor Brian Cantor, Vice-Chancellor, said: "We are delighted that York has been named ‘University of the Year'. The accolade reflects the University's consistently high performance in teaching and research quality and its welcoming and supportive approach to students. It is a very great credit to the hard-working and talented staff here."
