York science in the forefront of teaching

The Departments of Computer Science and Biology were ranked at the top of their subject tables in the Guardian University Guide 2002.
The Guide focuses exclusively on teaching and is aimed at a
prospective student audience. Other departments that performed well
included Economics, Educational Studies and Psychology, all being ranked
second in their tables.
The University came 6th for overall teaching in the Guide. The top ten are as follows:
- Cambridge
- Oxford
- St George's Hospital Medical School
- Wales College of Medicine
- Warwick
- YORK
- University College London
- SOAS
- Bristol
- Nottingham
