Another perfect score as Philosophy continues York's superb teaching record

The Subject Review process measures the quality of teaching in every subject in every university. York has been ranked second out of 98 UK universities for these scores so far.
The Review team from the Quality Assurance Agency visited the Department of Philosophy from 4 to 7 December. Their visit was a formal process which looked at six aspects: curriculum design; teaching, learning and assessment; student progression and achievement; student support; learning resources; and quality management and enhancement. Each area was awarded a score out of 4 (total possible marks: 24). The Department submitted a document in advance which detailed aims and objectives in each of the six areas. As part of their audit, the assessors sat in on lectures, seminars and tutorials.
"This result is a tribute to the dedication and high standards of all the staff in the Department and also to the enthusiasm and support of students past and present," said Head of Department, Professor Tom Baldwin.
