York pupils get early taste of University life

Year 9 pupils from Huntingdon and Lowfield schools will visit the University of York on 17 June to find out what its like at University.

The visit is part of the national 'Green Apple' project, which aims to raise awareness of the benefits of higher education well before pupils actually begin to apply to university. York's contribution is also part of 'Learning City'.

The University will also host visits under the PATHE (Promoting Access to Higher Education) project for 230 year 9 pupils from Joseph Rowntree School (6 July) and 85 from Burnholme Community College (14 July).

Notes to editors:

  • Photo opportunity: Huntingdon and Lowfield pupils will have a chance to learn about Chinese calligraphy and chopsticks with Dr Steve Harlow in the Language building at 1.15pm.
