Items borrowed from the ordinary loan collection have flexible loan periods. Flexible Loans are a new service for the 2012/13 academic year, background information is available.
You can find more details about how Flexible Loans work on the following pages:
If you can't find the answer to your query on these pages or are experiencing problems returning items please contact the Library.
How they work
4 week loans for all items (except Key Texts and journals) unless they are requested
the length of loan adjusts automatically depending on the circumstances of the borrower (full time, part time etc.) and depending on demand with requested items issued for less time
as a user you won't have to wait as long for an item if it is already on loan, simply place a request using YorSearch
confirm you still have the item using the My Library Account link in YorSearch; there are unlimited renewals on items that have not been requested by another user
Help us achieve zero fines
fines exist to act as an incentive to other people, who may otherwise return items late and inconvenience you
no fines are payable on any items unless they have been requested by someone else and not returned
fines on overdue requested items are charged at £2 per item per day
we want to achieve zero fines and not have any items back late. However, any fines which are generated will be used to purchase additional copies of high demand items
Stay in touch
keep in touch with us to let us know if you are having any problems returning an item or getting to the Library
look at My Library Account, your receipts and email frequently to check when your items are due - remember this can change if someone else requests an item you have
remember to confirm that you still have an item after 4 weeks to keep it for longer
Continuous improvement
Our new Flexible Loans is not a static service and we are keen to continually improve. Please tell us what you think by emailing us at infodir-loansreview-group@york.ac.uk
