Google have made a statement about their commitment to security and privacy:

Third-party add-ons

We are unable to recommend the use of most third-party add-ons available on the Google Workspace Marketplace. This exludes those that are part of an IT service we already have, or those created by Google themselves.

Most add-ons require some level of access to the data in your Google account. As the University does not have a data agreement with the developers of those add-ons, we don't know how that data will be handled so cannot recommend their use.
