Derwent is a lively, social college in the heart of the Heslington campus famed for its social events. Derwent students organise the biggest and best events on campus - regular Club Ds and the end of year Big D, as well as many smaller events during the year.

Derwent's Approach

Derwent's social events and large residential blocks create extensive social networks and integration between blocks and years. Derwent aims to create a community and identity which we hope that you will be as proud to belong to as the alumni who come back to visit us each year. 

Through the JCR events and sports Derwent provides endless opportunities for student involvement in running events, sports teams, the JCR and the College.

Finally, we aim to provide all Derwent students with an international experience, whether that is through developing an international network of friends, pursuing an interest in international issues or cultures, or studying abroad as part of your degree.
