Why take on the hassles of owning a vehicle and all the costs that come with it, when you can join City Car Club and have access to the car that’s based at the University of York as well as almost 600 other cars spread over York, Manchester, Leeds and 11 other UK Cities.

Vehicles are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and can be booked by the hour, day or week – however long you need it for, from only £5 per hour plus mileage.

As well as the vehicle we have on campus, there are almost 20 vehicles spread all over the city so you’re never far from a City Car when you need one!

 

How does it work?

It really couldn’t be simpler – once you have registered online, our clubhouse will give you a call to finalise your application with a quick call to the DVLA and then issue your membership card. Then when you need a car simply book online (on a desktop or using our mobile friendly site), open the car with your card and drive away.

You can forget about road tax, servicing, MOTs and even washing the car – we do everything but the driving!

As well as our normal range of Fiat 500’s, Automatic Toyota Prius’ and Toyota Yaris’ Hybrids we are also looking to add a van to the City in the spring. Perfect for moving house and IKEA trips!

International Students

You don’t need to have a UK licence to join our club – we welcome members of any nationality just as long as your licence is valid within the UK. All we need is a copy of your licence and passport for our records.

Please note that it is your responsibility to inform City Car Club when your non-UK license has expired as you will no longer be covered by the insurance company.

University of York Case Study....

Dani Fill, Sociology Society Chair and Vanbrugh College Chair joined City Car Club after she was handed a flyer on campus. She normally walks or uses the bus to get around York, but uses City Car Club for exploring outside of the city centre.

She says “Recently we went to watch the fireworks at Castle Howard, which we would not have been able to do without the car. I usually use it with friends and then share the cost.”

Dani used to own a car, but has since sold it to fund a trip to Australia. She says “I don’t need a car all the time in York as everything is so close. Using the City Car Club car gives me the convenience of a car when I need it.”
