Hourly car and van rental on your doorstep!

City Car Club is the UK’s leading car club with hundreds of pay-as-you-go cars and vans across York and 13 other UK cities. The cars are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and can be booked by the hour, day, or as long as you like from just £5.20 per hour.

Unlike owning your own car, with City Car Club you only pay for the time you actually need the car, so you’re not wasting money paying for one while it sits doing nothing. There are currently 8 cars conveniently located across York including one at the University which can be found outside the information centre. They can all be booked online or by phone in advance, or at a moment’s notice.

How does it work?

Once you have registered as a member you will receive a membership smart card and PIN. Simply book the car of your choice, unlock it with your smart card, enter your PIN into the onboard computer, take the keys and drive away. It really is as easy as that.

Insurance, road tax, servicing, parking permits, fuel and even cleaning are all taken care of, so all you need to worry about is enjoying your journey.

 

International students

City Car Club can accept any nationality of driving license for the duration that it is valid in the UK. Once you have completed the joining form you will be requested to submit a photocopy/scan of your driving license and passport for their records.

Please note that it is your responsibility to inform City Car Club when your non-UK license has expired as you will no longer be covered by the insurance company.

University of York Case Study....

Dani Fill, Sociology Society Chair and Vanbrugh College Chair joined City Car Club after she was handed a flyer on campus. She normally walks or uses the bus to get around York, but uses City Car Club for exploring outside of the city centre.

She says “Recently we went to watch the fireworks at Castle Howard, which we would not have been able to do without the car. I usually use it with friends and then share the cost.”

Dani used to own a car, but has since sold it to fund a trip to Australia. She says “I don’t need a car all the time in York as everything is so close. Using the City Car Club car gives me the convenience of a car when I need it.”
