On 27 June, academics and students involved in robotics research across the University of York had their work presented at the International Robotics Showcase organised by the EPSRC UK-RAS Network, which took place at the Royal Geographical Society.

Now in its fourth year, the one-day International Robotics Showcase has become the centrepiece of UK Robotics Week, and features an array of the latest robotic technologies, live demonstrations, and talks by world-renowned technologists and experts.

On behalf of YorRobots, the York network of robotics researchers, Dr Mark Post and his team from the Department of Electronics Engineering, set up a large stand, presenting the broad interdisciplinary spectrum of robotics research at York.  Other departments involved in the work presented in the stand included Computer Science, Chemistry, and Psychology.

Dr Post’s group on Space Robotics and Autonomous Systemsprovided a demonstration of a modular satellite assembly using a robot arm provided by Automata Technologies. The demonstrator supports a Horizon 2020 Space Robotics SRC project named "MOSAR-MOdular Spacecraft Assembly and Reconfiguration", that aims to develop, integrate and demonstrate the technologies required for a fundamental paradigm shift towards modular and self-managing satellites and spacecraft.

This activity was supported by The University of York's EPSRC Impact Acceleration Account.
