The festival screens cinema from around the Chinese language speaking world, from independent fiction and documentaries, through to animation and experimental works, as well as bringing to London some director and artist guests, who'll be taking part in conferences, debates and Q&A sessions.

This year, CVF opens with Ju Anqi in conversation with Tony Rayns and closes with Midi Z’s The Road to Mandalay at BFI Southbank. Other guests include award-winning documentary director Wen Hai and Hong Kong Fresh Wave filmmakers. There are also special sessions focusing on LGBTQ cinema, award-winning Chinese animation, family planning in China and other current issues.
