Jason Daff wins the Times Higher Education Outstanding Technician of the Year 2023

On Thursday 7 December 2023, Jason Daff, Horticulture Manager in the Department of Biology, won the Times Higher Education award for Outstanding Technician of the Year, 2023.

In addition to his fantastic work supporting horticultural research within Biology, he has initiated new ways to support technical career development, giving his time and expertise to train young horticulturists. Jason is also Vice-chair of the UK controlled Environment User's Group & Honorary Secretary of the Chartered Institute of Horticulture, and was the first technician at York to successfully apply for funding for a summer student.
