Department: School for Business & Society (SBS)
Project Leads: Caroline Chaffer, Jill Webb
Summary
The focus of this project is a first year, semester one undergraduate module. The module is a core module on our BA Business and Management programme with c 200 students taking the module each year. The module was redesigned in 2023/23 as part of the redesign the module team introduced a number of changes informed by the literature on inclusive pedagogy.
The request is to fund a series of focus groups through which we will explore the experiences of overseas and first in family students on the module with a particular focus on the teaching interventions that were introduced. One area that we are particularly interested in exploring is the students' experiences of Group work and how teaching practices can be developed to ensure that the benefits of group work to successful transition are accessible to all student groups and also on how the activities developed student community.
